payever rebuilds its BNPL and financing widgets for the product page, Shopify and the checkout counter

Developed with its banking partners, payever's redesigned installment messaging, mobile-first calculators and QR-based in-store financing roll out automatically to merchants across all supported shop systems.

HAMBURG, Germany — September 1, 2026

payever today announced that Belgian online merchants can now accept Ecocheques as a digital payment method at checkout, powered by payever's multi-basket split payment technology. The launch builds on payever's expansion into Belgium last year alongside Santander Consumer Finance Benelux, and marks a significant step forward in making sustainable commerce more accessible for both merchants and consumers.

cocheques are one of Belgium's most widely used employee benefits, issued by providers including Monizze, Sodexo Benefits and Rewards Services, and Edenred. Millions of Belgian employees receive them each year to spend on eco-friendly and sustainable products — from energy-efficient electronics and bicycles to repairs and other environmentally responsible goods. Until now, redeeming that value online has been anything but simple.

"Ecocheques represent real purchasing power sitting in the hands of millions of Belgian consumers. But for merchants, turning that purchasing power into a sale has always come with friction — figuring out how to split a voucher's value against the rest of the basket, in real time, without breaking checkout. We built our platform to solve exactly that problem."

1.Selection — Customers browse and add eligible eco-friendly products to their cart, just as they would with any online purchase.

2.Checkout — At checkout, they simply select "Ecocheques" as their preferred payment method.

3.The Split — Customers are securely redirected to the payever checkout, where they can pay using vouchers from Monizze, Sodexo Benefits and Rewards Services, or Edenred. If the value of the vouchers doesn't cover the full order, the remaining balance can be settled instantly — using Bancontact, Wero, or a credit card — without ever leaving the flow.

Designed around the way people actually shop

The heart of the new offering is payever's multi-basket split payment technology, which allows a single order to be paid for using more than one payment method at once. For Ecocheques, that means a customer's basket is no longer limited by the face value of their vouchers.

The experience has been designed to feel effortless, in three simple steps:

Built for conversion, not just compliance

For merchants, the technical burden of supporting voucher-based payments has long stood in the way of adoption — even when the customer demand was clearly there. By resolving the split-payment challenge at the infrastructure level, payever removes that barrier entirely, allowing merchants to open their doors to Ecocheque holders without added engineering overhead.

Early results point to a clear opportunity: when customers are able to combine benefits like Ecocheques with everyday payment methods in one seamless flow, checkout abandonment drops and average order values rise — a win for merchants and a win for consumers looking to make their sustainability budget go further.
